Recording

When it comes to professional audio recording we aim to offer a service providing all things to all people. Whilst we have provided multitrack recordings of live concerts to world-class professional artists we also spend a considerable amount of time working with students and new bands. It’s a very satisfying way to work and it allows us to apply real-world professional techniques to instruction and recordings with talented young non-professional musicians.

The recording process should be creative, inspiring and fun and that is the way we like it to be. Our engineers are experienced in working with many kinds of music and musicians and will help you achieve the best results possible. Click here for some of our past recording projects.

Studio & location recording

Very shortly we will have completed our dedicated studio facility, located in Mid-Bedfordshire. This will provide a small live room for soloists and small ensembles or bands along with an isolated vocal or instrumental booth. The control room will be equipped with a 24-channel Soundcraft Ghost desk and facilities for recording straight to 2-track, digital multitrack, DAW (digital audio workstation) running Pro Tools, Nuendo, Cubase 4 and Cool Edit Pro or 8-track analogue tape. We have a fine selection of studio mics, including Nuemann, AKG, Audix, Beyer, Rode and Shure along with excellent hybrid valve mic pre-amps and compressors from TLA, effects processors from Lexicon and studio monitors from PMC and Mackie.

We can also be extremely flexible when it comes to the choice of location.

If you have found the ideal location for your session; somewhere with great acoustics you are keen to capture on the recording, then we can bring the studio to you. This could also be useful (as it has been on many occasions) when recording with school or other student groups. On sessions for the Queensbury School album “On Q” we adapted classrooms after school hours and also made use of the excellent acoustics in the main auditorium at The Stables Theatre in Wavenden. We are resourceful so-and-so’s !

So, whether you want a complete studio set-up with all the monitoring and editing facilities of a DAW and full multitrack recording or basic demos recorded straight to a stereo mix, we can set up on location virtually anywhere.

Singer / songwriter demos

We can offer a very cost-effective demo service for singer / songwriters or bands who want a basic recording of new ideas or rehersed pieces. This could be ideal for protecting copyright of your compositions (ask us for more details of this) or compiling demo CDs for promoters, auditions or venue bookings. Or you may just need a recording of your pieces so you can experiment with further ideas to expand them.

Voiceover work

Whether you need a complete novel voiced or spoken passages added as part of a post-production project, we can accomodate. We can even provide male and female voiceover artists for you, should you require.

Live performance recording

There is nothing quite like the excitement of capturing a unique live performance. We can provide a comprehensive recording service for any live performance. If it is a very basic gig with minimal live sound equipment, we will bring everything needed to mic up and record to digital multitrack or mix straight to stereo 2-track Where there is existing in-house equipment of a suitable standard we can either split the on-stage signal to our own mixing desk to produce a stereo mix or digital multitrack or use direct channel outputs from the venue’s front-of-house desk, if this is possible. Once recorded, we can offer a complete in-house production service to provide a finished CD or supply individual multitrack files, in your chosen format, for post-production.

Apart from electric bands, we can also produce ambient recordings of classical recitals, acoustic jazz or brass band performances ... in fact, virtually anything at all !
